FAQ

About rental

・How long is the rental period?

4 weeks (27 nights, 28 days) from the date of receipt. Please pick up the item within 5 days after placing the order. If you finish reading it early, there is absolutely no problem in returning it earlier than planned. Different children read at different speeds, and some want to read the same book over and over, while others want to read different books. Please return it at your convenience within 4 weeks.

In addition, we will take irregular holidays. Regular holidays do not count towards the 4 week rental period.

・What happens if the return is delayed?

There is an additional charge of €1,00 per book per day. Please return it without delay.

What happens if the book is lost or damaged?

Lost books will incur an additional charge of €10 - 20 per book, depending on the type of book. If it is damaged or soiled, we will deal with it according to the condition.

・How many books can one family borrow?

There is no upper limit. Different children read at different speeds, so please make your own judgment and rent as many books as you can read during the rental period.

・The book I want to borrow is sold out, but could you tell me when it will be returned?

If you can contact us by email or Whatsapp , we will inform you about the rental date.

・Why is it charged?

Even books published in Japan have copyrights and lending rights. At Kotch Library, we would like to operate in compliance with laws and regulations, rather than using or lending publications without permission. Based on this, we have decided to register with an organization (first Japanese language library) that has received full entrustment from the government to manage copyrights and lending rights, and to operate it. Also, even though it is online, we want you to have the experience of choosing a book at a real bookstore or library, so it costs money to maintain the website.

Therefore, we receive usage fees for the above expenses, book repair costs, and book purchase costs.

・What payment methods do you support?

When renting books, we support almost all payment methods such as iDEAL, credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, AMEX), and debit cards.

About the collection

・What kind of genres do you have in your collection?

Although we mainly focus on children's books, we handle a wide range of children from 1 year old to adults.

Biography (129 volumes), History (128 volumes), Stories/Novels (161 volumes), Travel (56 volumes), Education/Parenting (42 volumes), etc.

In addition, as of March 14, 2023, the total number of books is over 3,500, and there are about 900 books for sale.

・Is it possible to borrow a book by actually looking at it?

If you let us know the date and time, you can actually see the book.

Yes, book donations are welcome. Depending on the content and condition of the book, we will consider purchasing it.

About receiving and returning

・From what time to what time are you open?

Basic business hours are below.
Weekdays 10:00 - 18:00 (excluding 14:30 - 15:30)

Please contact us if you would like a time other than the above.

・If it is not convenient for me to pick up the book, is it possible to change the date and time?

Yes, please let me know the date and time. Please receive the book within 5 days of ordering.

・The address is not written, but could you tell me?

After you have registered as a member and placed a rental order, we will send you an email to prepare for pick-up. I will give you the detailed address at that time.

·Is there a parking lot?

There is no dedicated parking lot, but you can park on the street nearby for a fee. €1.00- for the first hour, then €4.50/hour. Free on Sundays. (payable with ParkMobile)

・Do you have a bag to take your books home with?

We have a special bag for you, so please do not worry.

・Could you tell me about the delivery and collection service?

From June 2022, we have started a book delivery and collection service with limited areas and dates. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to use it.

■ Target area Den Haag (including neighboring areas such as Voorburg and Rijswijk)
Rotterdam (including neighboring areas such as Schiedam)
*Please contact us if you are unsure whether your home is included in the target area.

■ Free delivery/collection fee (covered in membership fee)

■Delivery and collection time Den Haag area: 2nd Saturday between 10:30-13:30 Rotterdam area: 3rd Saturday between 10:00-14:00

・What is the delivery area and cost of the sales book?

Target countries: EU, UK, Switzerland, etc. (32 European countries)
Shipping: €5.95 within the Netherlands, €13-40 for other countries
(No customs duties are required within the EU, but additional customs duties may be incurred in other countries depending on the purchase amount)
